A former croft constructed of stone, with an enclosed garden. Set over 900 feet above sea level, within the Cairngorms National Park, it has spectacular views over the Monadhliath mountains, the River Spey and Insh Marshes to the front, and moorland and forests to the rear.
Inveruglas comprises a scattering of properties, old and new, approached by a ½-mile unmade road leading from the very scenic B970 which runs on the eastern side of the River Spey and Insh Marshes, between Kingussie and Kincraig. For walking and birdwatching Inveruglas is ideal, and among the rare bird species nesting locally are whinchats, goldcrests and crested tits. An old drove road (not open to other traffic) passes through, giving foot access to a selection of paths and forestry roads leading to Insh, Drumguish and Glen Feshie. Visitors' comments: “Wonderful cottage - great views.” “The cottage was a refreshing delight to spread our wings in.”
The well and very fully furnished accommodation comprises: Ground Floor - large porch/conservatory, with chairs and fixed seats; lounge with open fire and TV; lounge with oil-fired new Rayburn stove and radio; single bedroom, leading from second lounge; small kitchen, with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. First Floor (stairgate available) - one double-bedded bedroom; one twin-bedded bedroom with wash-basin (first floor beds have fitted electric blankets); bathroom/WC. There is a tumble drier in an outbuilding.
Pillows, duvets and blankets are provided; bed-linen and personal towels are not, but may be hired from ourselves. Please note that the double bed is king-sized. Heating is by open fire, Rayburn and radiators. Heating and electricity are included in the charge. One dog is allowed, by arrangement with ourselves. A special feature of this house is the furnished porch where one may sit and admire the views and, if lucky, spectacular sunsets.
Ample car parking.
The owner requests that no smoking take place in the property.
Directions
From the south, follow A9 north and take B9152 turn-off to Newtonmore. Go through Newtonmore to Kingussie and then turn right into B970, signposted 'Railway Station and Ruthven Barracks' (ancient monument). Follow B970 for 4½ miles and you will come to an unmade road on your right (signs saying 'Inveruglas, Private Road') with an enclosure at the bottom housing a council skip. Slowly drive up this road. Towards the top, the road forks. Take the left fork, go on a little way, and then fork right, which leads only to Easter Inveruglas. The name of the house is by the gate.
